1. Community Sport –Initiation to TABLE TENNIS COMMUNITY Coach

Background to the workshop, 7.5hrs

This workshop has been designed to prepare community coaches to meet the needs of children and adults beginners in community Table Tennis by training them to do the tasks (achieve the outcomes) described below. These multi-sport outcomes represent the minimum standard for the training and certification of community coaches within a competency-based NCCP.

Below are the sport-specific outcomes for Community Coach – Initiation in TABLE TENNIS, as developed by Table Tennis Canada:

At the end of the workshop, participants will be confident to teach following technical aspects of table tennis:

• The equipment used to play including the general characteristics of various racket materials and types of rubbers.

• The main playing styles.

• The basic rules of table tennis, including the variations for wheelchair play.

• How to grip the racket, including acceptable attachments for play with disability.

• The ready position and basic footwork.

• The basic strokes used in table tennis.

• The basics of serving and service returns

• Creating an environment of inclusion, respect, and safety (social, emotional, personal)

Part A : Competition-Introduction Base Table Tennis certification 

Background to the workshop, 2 days

Modules: Plan a Practice session, Make Ethical Decision, Analysis of the techniques, Support the athlete in training, Training Plan and more
There is an evaluation to be followed within 6 months after the weekend of the course to become certified, coaches will need to do online MED and submit a portfolio along with other documents.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Part B : Competition-Introduction Advanced Table Tennis certification 

Background to the workshop, 2 days

Modules : Managing the Program: Athletes DevelopmentPlanning a Practice and Supporting the athlete during training, Support the athlete in competition, Managing a Program: Table Tennis Organization, Designing a practice plan

There is an evaluation to be followed within 6 months after the weekend of the course to become certified, coaches will need to submit a portfolio along with other documents
